William Goss SXSW Panel Now Online

Earlier this month, OFCS member William Goss co-created the panel "The Blogger Centipede: How Content is Eroding Credibility" at the 2011 South by Southwest Festival. Phil Hall Nominated for Rondo Award

OFCS member Phil Hall has been nominated for a Rondo Hatton Classic Horror Award. The ninth annual Rondos, which are described as being "by fans, for fans," cover a wide range in the world of science fiction and horror, from film, television, print, and online coverage, celebrating both new releases and revivals of classics. Hall is nominated for his Videoscope article "The First Frankenstein: 100 Years of Fear," a study of Edison's 1910 Frankenstein.

Chicago International Movies and Music Festival Announces Lineup

The Chicago International Movies and Music Festival, which features OFCS member Michael W. Phillips, Jr., on its staff as program director, has announced its 2011 lineup. A "crossover of film and song," the festival spotlights movies with music at their core. Making their world premiere at the festival are FIX: The Ministry Movie, Freaks in Love, and Keep It Moving, while The Ballad of Mott the Hoople, Bollywood Dream, and Sizzle are among the films making their U.S. premiere.

The CIMMF runs April 14 through 17. More details can be found here.

Phil Hall's Latest Book Now Available

BearManor Media has published the latest book from OFCS member Phil Hall. Co-written with former OFCS member Rory Aronsky, What If They Lived? Hollywood's Lost Stars and the Futures They Never Had takes a speculative look at movie stars who died too soon and the films they might have made had they lived. Among the actors discussed are Rudolph Valentino, Jean Harlow, Marilyn Monroe, Bruce Lee, John Belushi, and Heath Ledger.

Hall's previous books include Independent Film Distribution, The Encyclopedia of Underground Movies, and The History of Independent Cinema. Further details on What If They Lived? can be found here.
