Steven Greydanus to be Published in the New Catholic Encyclopedia

OFCS member Steven Greydanus has contributed a number of entries to the latest supplement to the New Catholic Encyclopedia, to published by Gale Group. The entries consist of a number of filmmaker overviews, including Cecil B. DeMille, Leo McCarey, Francois Truffaut, and Franco Zeffirelli. Greydanus' previous contribution to the New Catholic Encyclopedia was an overview on the history of film in relation to the Catholic Church. The supplement will be released in June.

In the meantime, for more Greydanus, New York residents can catch a special Oscar episode of his cable TV series Reel Faith on NET (Time Warner/Cablevision), which will air February 26th & 27th.

Second Annual For the Love of Film Blogathon Underway

Ferdy on Films, the blog founded by OFCS member Marilyn Ferdinand, has announced the launch of its second annual blogathon fundraiser. Titled "For the Love of Film (Noir): The Film Preservation Blogathon", the blogging marathon hopes to raise funds for the Film Noir Foundation. Donations will help restore Cy Endfield's 1950 film The Sound of Fury, aka Try and Get Me.

Amber Wilkinson Included in Danny Boyle Interview Anthology

"Sunshine Superman," the interview conducted between OFCS member Amber Wilkinson and Academy Award-winning filmmaker Danny Boyle, has been chosen for inclusion in the new book Danny Boyle: Interviews. The book is a collection of interviews held throughout Boyle's acclaimed career, covering his works 1994's Shallow Grave through 2008's Slumdog Millionaire. Wilkinson's entry originally appeared in EyeForFilm.co.uk, coinciding with the release of Boyle's 2007 film Sunshine.

Danny Boyle: Interviews is published by University Press of Mississippi and is available from Amazon.com and other retailers.
